Built to be usable by everyone.

The short version: Mapsake is built with SwiftUI on Apple's platforms, so it inherits the system's accessibility features, and we've worked to make the experience comfortable in both light and dark, in seven languages, and with controls that read well to assistive technology. We're committed to improving accessibility over time, and we want to hear from you if something gets in your way.

Appearance and color

• Light, Dark, and System themes, chosen in Settings. Every screen is designed to read well in both.
• Your own lens colors. The visited, lived, and next colors recolor the whole app, so you can pick combinations that work for you.
• The map's marked countries can be shown as a filled color or a glowing outline, and labels can be country names, flags, or off, so information isn't carried by color alone.

VoiceOver and assistive technology

Controls throughout the app carry descriptive labels for VoiceOver, and the app uses standard system controls so it works with the assistive features built into iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. This is an area we keep refining, so please reach out if you hit a control that isn't clearly described.

Motion

Mapsake follows Reduce Motion across its animated experiences, including achievements, Rewind, Travel DNA, and Constellations. The Atlas globe can also be kept still by turning rotation off in Settings. There is no flashing or strobing content.

Language

Mapsake is available in English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, and follows your device's language and region settings.

Media

Mapsake has no spoken or instructional audio. Its optional reels and visual memory sequences summarize information that is also available as static cards, lists, maps, and photos.
